Treatment may have ended for Katie, but the battle is far from over.

Please say a prayer for all the children who continue to fight childhood cancer day after day.
Pray for their strength, resilience and healing.

A Visit to the La Salette Shrine

Neither Mike nor I have been to the La Salette Shrine since we were kids, so we decided to take Katie to see the lights. I was expecting a quiet reflective night on the true meaning of Christmas, but instead it felt like we were at an amusement park...not at all how I remember it.

There was a carousel ride, a carnival snack cart and it cost $10 to light a candle!!! I understand that they have to raise the money necessary to pay the electric bill for the 350,000 lights that they light everynight, but it was way to commercialized for me. Katie had fun on the carousel and we did all have fun spending the night together looking at the lights.

The theme at the Shrine this year - Light of Life!

My favorite part of the night was being together as a family without any distractions - Mike & Katie are the light of my life and I was truly grateful for the time we got to spend together :-)
