Long day in the hospital

It has been a very long, frustrating day in the hospital. Katie is doing perfectly fine...no fever and great appetite. The only problem is that this is day 5 on steroids and we have been stuck in an extremely small hospital room (8x8...if that...with a hospital bed, end table, 2 reclining chairs, a TV and an IV pump) with a VERY cranky toddler. It is very cramped in this room and there is NO room to play or hide for that matter. Poor Katie can't even go down to the playroom because she is on antibiotics and considered "contagious". So, needless to say, we are all ready to get out of here as soon as possible.

We did have some great visitors today though. First thing this morning, Dr. Keuker stopped in to check on his girlfriend :-) Then, we got a social visit from Dr. Grossman, one of the other oncologists in the clinic. Katie was too cranky to appreciate his visit, but we enjoyed talking with him for a while. Later in the day, Katie's eyes lit up when her friends from "Why Me" showed up with coffee, donuts & snacks. We also saw nurse practitioner, Jen, social worker, Fran, and child life staff. Around 4pm, Meme & Papa stopped by with some more snacks :-) Then after dinner, nurse Helen stopped up for a visit before going home. Amongst all of those wanted visitors, there were also the unwanted visits from the residents, medical assistants, nurses and nurse aids. It was basically a constant flow of people all day long. I did leave the room for a few hours to go down to the family room to do some work...still gotta make the mula! lol

It is finally quieting down around here and I am hoping to get some sleep tonight...so far, no screaming from next door. We are really hoping to be home in our own beds tomorrow night.
