Treatment may have ended for Katie, but the battle is far from over.

Please say a prayer for all the children who continue to fight childhood cancer day after day.
Pray for their strength, resilience and healing.

Relay For Life

Dear Family and Friends,

As many of you know, our daughter, Kaitlyn, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in August of 2008 and she is still undergoing aggressive treatment to fight her disease. Her treatment is going very well. She is in remission and her prognosis is excellent. However, at 2 years old, she is going through more than most of us ever will in a whole lifetime. Hospitalizations, surgeries, bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures, blood transfusions, chemotherapy administrations, blood draws, multiple shots every week...etc. The list goes on and on.

This year, hundreds of thousands of people will hear the words "You have cancer," and there's a good chance that some of them will be people we know and love. We have all been touched by cancer in some way ... and we all have the power to make a difference. That's why I have chosen to fight back right here in my own community by participating in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life® of Shrewsbury scheduled for Friday May 15th 6 p.m. ~ Saturday May 16th noon at Oak Middle School.

Relay For Life® is a life-changing event that brings together more than 3.5 million people worldwide -- more than 117,000 in New England -- to:
- CELEBRATE the lives of those who have battled cancer. The strength of survivors inspires others to continue to fight.
- REMEMBER loved ones lost to the disease. At Relay, people who have walked alongside people battling cancer can grieve and find healing.
- FIGHT BACK. We Relay because we have been touched by cancer and desperately want to put an end to the disease.

I want to invite you to join me in the fight against cancer! Please visit my personal page at http://main.acsevents.org/goto/amyrandell to:
- Join our team
- Make a donation
- Create your own team

If you would like to purchase a $10 luminaria in honor of a loved one to light the track during our Relay, please contact me directly.

Also, save the date to come and join us at the Relay. I plan to register Kaitlyn for the “survivor lap” which kicks off the event on Friday. I will have more information on that in the coming weeks. We would love it if you would come and watch as she takes her well deserved lap at this year’s Relay for Life!!!

With gratitude,
Amy
