Thursday's Clinic Visit

Yesterday's clinic visit marked the start of round 3 for Phase IV: Consolidation II.

Her counts were just barely high enough to start and she was completely exhausted by the time we left there yesterday. We were there for 5 hours. While we were there, her port was accessed and she received...
1) a blood draw
2) a lumbar puncture with intrathecal chemotherapy
3) 2 PEG aspariginase shots in her legs
4) Vincristine
For those of you counting, that was 4 sticks. Well, I should say 3 sticks and a lumbar puncture as that is much more than just a stick. Later at home, she received her oral chemo & 2 steroid doses. So, the chemical count is 6 different types of chemo & a steroid, all in one day. This poor kid, I don't know how she is holding up. I hate watching her go through all of this, never mind being the one to have to endure it all. She is truly an amazing little girl.

This round lasts 3 weeks and consists of the following...

Vincristine - Day 1
Methotrexate - Days 1, 8, 15 (or 2, 9, 16)
6-mercapturine - Days 1-14
Dexamethasone - Days 1-5

She will also continue to have PEG aspariginase shots in her legs every other week. She is due for her next dose in 2 weeks. Her next clinic visit is scheduled for next Thursday.
