Addition Update

Unfortunately, when we came home from Disney, there was no Extreme Home Makeover bus waiting for us and certainly no Ty Pennington, but the 4th wall was done and the dirt was back in the ground which was a huge relief. All of the siding has also been stripped from our house, but we still do not have a basement floor, which is a big disappointment.

Here is the progress today...

Our contractor is starting to work on the frame while we are waiting for the cement truck to come back and pour the floor. They like to see the basement water tight before they pour the floor because if it rains, the basement will fill with water. Hopefully the floor will be done early next week and we can call the bank for some money to move forward with!

You are looking at the floor for 3 new bedrooms and a staircase into the basement and up into our new attic!!! In case you don't know what our plan is over here...we are adding on 3 new bedrooms. Then our existing master will become a master bathroom while the other 2 bedrooms will become a hallway into the addition and a playroom. We are also tearing off the room and making it a saltbox style roof with 2 dormers in the front. The rear of the roof will stay up so that we can use the second floor if and when we ever want to. I have plans for a scrapbooking/photography studio :-)

This whole thing is really a big pain in the butt and if I had known 10 months ago what a major pain in the butt this was going to be, I think we seriously would have considered moving instead. But, hopefully later, when we are enjoying all our extra space, it will all be worth it.
