Katie's Lemonade Stand!!!

For the third year, we set up "Katie's Lemonade Stand" at the Spirit of Shrewsbury, Oak Street Expo and it was a great success. The weather was not really on our side this year as it was a bit rainy, but there was still a pretty good turnout. This year, Katie's Lemonade Stand raised money for one of our favorite organizations - Why Me & Sherry's House. I have mentioned this organization numerous times on my blog before because these people have become a major part of our lives.

During our trying ordeal, the wonderful people at Why Me & Sherry's House made our journey a little more bearable. Not only were they a bright spot in our day when Kaitlyn was inpatient or in the clinic, but also they offered us great emotional support just by being there for us or introducing us to other families in similar situations. We are active members of the Parent 2 Parent group and the friendships that we have built are irreplaceable. Sherry’s House is a special place. When I walk into that house, I feel a sense of peace and belonging that I think is very rare. We are blessed to have this organization and all of it’s wonderful people in our lives.

What I love most about Katie's Lemonade Stand is how it brings people together for a common good. This year, we had family, friends, some of Katie's preschool teachers from last year, her current kindergarten teacher, some of our favorite nurses from UMass and a few other Sherry's House families.

We even had one of Katie's friends, Daniela (or "Twisty the Clown), show up ready to work! She was determined to be DoDo's assistant and she did a great job!!! Thanks Twisty!!! SO CUTE!

One of Katie's other friends, Alison, showed up and emptied her whole piggy bank into the donation jar. Thanks Ali!!!

What a great lesson for the kids - the fact that they came out to help us in our mission is truly appreciated!

These are the people that pull it all together every year - Maggie, me, Eileen, Shelly, Mary, Rachel, Mike (DoDo) & of course, Katie!!! Thank you all for helping us to bring Katie's Lemonade Stand together every year.

Katie's Lemonade Stand generated $600 for Sherry's House. Thank you SO MUCH to everyone that made today such a HUGE SUCCESS!!! We hope that this money will help them in their mission to support children with cancer & their families.
