The town has not officially cancelled Trick or Treating, but have they have "highly advised us not to take our kids out". The official stance from the town is that trick-or-treating is not recommended for safety reasons. About 78 percent of the town is without power, which prompted Grafton Police Chief Normand Crepeau Jr. and a townwide email to request that parents use their best judgement and coordinate with neighbors to plan a safe time for children to venture out. Needless to say, this has left us completely confused as to what to do.
They are not going to interfere and offer an alternative date, but they don't want us to take the kids out tonight? So what, just tell the kids there will be no Halloween this year? That should go over well. It is very frustrating to see that other towns were willing to step up and postpone Halloween but Grafton hasn't. So basically if we do go out tonight we look like jerks and if we don’t then the kids have no Halloween because no other date was set.
With all the confusion in Grafton, we decided to go out with some friends in Millbury. Although this was fun, it just wasn't the same as our South Street tradition on Grafton common.
We headed out for Trick or Treating dressed for winter!!!
Kaitlyn with her new friend, Rapunzel!
And another friend, Honor.
It was so weird to be walking around outside looking at Halloween decorations in the snow!!!
And after a full night of Trick or Treating, Katie fell asleep on the ride home. Sleep tight my little crayon box :-)
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!
