Treatment may have ended for Katie, but the battle is far from over.

Please say a prayer for all the children who continue to fight childhood cancer day after day.

The Inn is closed...

What a crazy weekend!

The ice storm that moved in on Thursday night knocked out our power very early Friday morning, but we were one of the lucky ones that got it back by 10am. I didn't even realize how bad other towns had been hit until my dad called Friday afternoon to let me know that they we opening shelters in all the towns. He was without power and he was going to be "working" at the Shrewsbury High School shelter to stay warm and collect a nice chunk of overtime!

My mom was also without power and she was told that she probably wouldn't gain power until Sunday. Given that information, she decided to come and stay the night at our house. We were glad to help and we made the best of it in true "girls sleepover" fashion. We played a game of Pictionary and watched the "Sex in the City" movie. My crazy sister, who, lives with my mom, decided to go back home for the night even though there was no power and no heat!!! She was worried about her cats and the dog - God love her, she has a heart of gold.

Saturday came and went and still none of them had regained electricity. Dad was still working at the shelter and Mom was joined at our house by her dog, Lady. Kay went out with some friends for the night and returned home around 3am Sunday morning to find that the electricity was finally back on at their house. My mom was happy to wake up this morning and find the good news in a text message on her phone.

Mom left our house today around 11am and the last tenant, Lady, left the inn at 8:30pm. It was hard to let her go - I love that dog!!! She has been a family dog for about 14 years and she is at the point where she has a hard time getting around. Seeing her struggle brings tears to my eyes because I know the end is near. She is such a great dog, a great friend and it won't be easy to let her go - I love that dog!
