Today, Kaitlyn's white blood cell counts were up and she was able to begin round 2 of Phase IV: Consolidation II. I am not sure if I am happy about that or not...it was nice to have a week & 1/2 without having to worry about any medications. It reminded me of the good ol' "normal" days. How I miss those days.
This round lasts 3 weeks and consists of the following...
Vincristine - Day 1
Methotrexate - Days 1, 8, 15 (or 2, 9, 16)
6-mercapturine - Days 1-14
Dexamethasone - Days 1-5
She will also continue to have PEG aspariginase shots in her legs every other week. She is due for her next dose next Wednesday (Christmas Eve Day). The PEG & Methotrexate cannot be given on the same day so, we are also scheduled for another clinic appointment on Friday. Therefore, we will be at the clinic the day before Christmas and the day after Christmas.
For many, Christmas is a time for family. For us, that includes our clinic family. This year, it is just about being together and all being healthy enough to enjoy it.
