Today's clinic visit was uneventful, which is always a good thing. We did not see Dr. Keuker or her nurse, Helen, today because they were both on vacation. Katie was disappointed because she wanted them to see her "spiky" hair. But, Dr. Keuker made sure to leave a note in her chart for them to consider adjusting her Methotrexate dosage if her white counts continued to be high. But, her APC (Absolute Phagocyte Count) was 1263 and it needs to be greater than 1000 to start the next cycle. So, seeing that she just barely made the cutoff, they decided not to increase any of her doses and wait to see what happens after another round.
Today's clinic visit consisted of the following:
1) Port access
2) a blood draw
3) Vincristine (Chemo)
This cycle will consist of the following:
Vincristine - Day 1 (same dose as previous cycles)
Methotrexate (oral at home chemo) - Days 1, 8 & 15 (same dose as the last cycle)
6-mercapturine (oral at home chemo) - Days 1-14 (same dose as the last cycle)
Dexamethasone (oral at home steroid)- Days 1-5 (same dose as the last cycle)
Next planned clinic visit will be in three weeks, September 17th, which will include another lumbar puncture.
