Urinary Tract Infection? or Potty Training?

We suspected that Kaitlyn may have a urinary tract infection (UTI) because she was having a series of accidents and refusing to get on the potty, stating that it hurt to pee. So, we brought her into the clinic on Friday morning (Aug 21, 2009) for a urinalysis. While there, Dr. Keuker also wanted to take blood and run a CBC to see how low her counts were at the end of her cycle. The results from the CBC would help him determine whether or not to increase her at home chemo doses in order to bring her counts down a bit lower than they had been. We have not gotten these results yet.

However, the urinalysis came back completely normal, showing no urinary tract infection for Katie. It looks like we just have a typical, stubborn, potty training, 3 year old...sigh. I have to wonder if we would have called the doctor if she didn't have leukemia...guess I will never know...
