After many days in the hospital, Kaitlyn will finally start her next phase of treatment today.
Starting sometime this afternoon, she will be receiving 3 different types of chemotherapy.
1) Vincristine (IV)
2) 6-mercaptopurine (Oral)
3) A very high dose of Methotrexate (MTX). The plan is for her to receive 24 hours straight of the drug through an IV. The doctor told us that the dose is lethal without the "antidote" (Leucovorin Rescue) which they will start administering at the 36th hour and then every 6 hours thereafter until the methotrexate is out of her system. We will remain in the hospital at least 72 hours after they start administering the methotrexate. But they won't send Kaitlyn home until the methotrexate is gone from her body (MTX level <0.1).
I am one scared mommy today. Please pray that her body responds well to her treatment and that Mike & I remain strong for any and all possible side effects to these drugs.

Oh boy, sounds like you are in for a rough day. You will be in my prayers. Just keep looking heavenward and know that God is in control and he will not give you anything more than you can bear. He will protect and comfort you and your little one. Good luck today (and the next few days it looks like).
Amy and Mike, There will be days that you will be so focused on Kaitlyn but, she will need a strong and healthy Mommy and Daddy...take care of yourselves and know that Kaitlyn has her angels watching over her. She will make you proud! I miss not seeing you all...but will be there if you ever need to talk. I know what you are going thru and understand how hard it is.
