Fevers continue

Kaitlyn is continuing to spike fevers every 6 hours and they are still treating them with Tylenol. Her blood cultures continue to come back positive for Staph Bacteria. So, now they are starting to talk about moving up the surgery to have her central line removed. Part of me wishes they would just get it out as soon as possible because it isn't getting any better and I don't want Kaitlyn to continue to get sicker while they wait. But, on the other hand, they are waiting because the Methotrexate in her bloodstream can cause unnecessary risk with the anesthesia needed for her surgery. We will know more tomorrow about her Methotrexate level and when they tentatively plan to do the surgery.

She received her 72 hour dose of the Lecovorin Rescue, which will be her final dose if her Methotrexate (MTX) levels come back <0.1>0.1 micromoles, she will continue to receive another 24 hours of the Lecovorin Rescue and they will retest her levels again tomorrow night. But, they are expecting her levels to be ok.

Tomorrow morning, she will receive a blood transfusion because her red & white blood count is getting quite low and she is getting pale and weak.

At this point, we are all sick of being in the hospital and we just want to go home. But, mostly, we just want Katie to get better so that we can get over this bump and put our focus back on her treatment plan and getting her cured.
